Upon arriving at the Arajuno bridge, where we will take a motorized canoe heading upstream for 20 minutes to begin our great experience in the tropical forest. On this boat trip, that travels along a river that flows zigzag through the jungle like a giant snake, you can appreciate the magic and beauty of the Amazon rainforest. This is considered the main system of the Pacha Mama (Mother Earth). Once we arrive at the dock of Itamandi Ecolodge, our staff will welcome you. Early in the morning we will take a 15-minute canoe ride upriver to visit the Parrot Saladero, a unique place where parrots and parakeets gather in order to obtain minerals that help them digest the fruits or seeds that have consumed. Hundreds of parrots and parakeets will approach the treetops and then go down the clay wall to eat this mineral-rich land. We return to the Lodge to have breakfast.

In this meeting, you will discover the part of the Amazon that is not found on the maps: the Amazonian natives in their daily lives.

Part of our visit to the community is to share the famous “chicha”, a fermented yucca drink that has become an essential part of their parties and daily consumption. We will participate in the preparation of this drink, along with some traditional dishes. The visit finishes with a traditional dance performed by the children of the community; we will also have time to buy some crafts made by the natives of the area. This small business is very helpful to support the daily life of the indigenous peoples of the area. Dinner and accommodation.

It is surrounded by bland lands with a great variety of Andean flora and fauna such as the Andean Condor, the national bird. Papallacta has 9 hot pools and 3 pools of cold water from the river, which provides a very picturesque panorama.

Because it is located between 2 volcanoes, the Cayambe and the Antisana, their magma represents the source of heat for the hot springs. Temperatures may vary between 30ºC to 70ºC; these natural pools contain high percentages of sulfate, chloride, sodium, calcium and a trace of magnesium. They are odorless and colorless but leave a slight salty taste. These waters have healing properties such as: improving intestinal function; anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and anti-rheumatic effects; aid in respiratory, renal arthritic problems. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the treatment of thermal baths or do horseback riding and short walks. Accommodation.

This is a smooth stone called “Yanasacha” that doesn’t allow snow to stick to its surface.
